
Sacramental Preparation  Sacramental Preparation is to Build up the Faith


Prior to a anyone receiving a Sacrament, preparation is necessary. In the sacramental preparation of children, we use the opportunity to help the parents and the family to grow in their faith. 
Baptism of Infants and Children

Before a child is Baptized, parents are required to participate in preparation sessions. Please call the Parish Office for arrangements. Baptism Preparation is held on Tuesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at St. John Church. Depending on the age of the child, parents will take, four, six, eight or 12 sessions.  The Role of the Godparent


Preparing Children for the Sacraments

Parents are the primary educators of their children in the ways of faith. The Parish and the Catholic Schools assist the parents in this duty. Preparation includes Parent meetings; Welcoming Celebrations, Parent and Child Retreats and the actual Sacramental Celebration. 
Reconciliation (Confession, Penance)

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is for all Catholics - children and adults. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated before the child's Confirmation and First Eucharist, but is formally celebrated in Grade Three after a more intense preparation. Reconciliation is also celebrated within the Catholic Schools during Advent and Lent with students from Grades 4 to 12 given the opportunity to celebrate. 
Confirmation

The Diocese of St. Paul has completed the process of "Restoring the Order of the Sacraments of Initiation" - Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.
Children in Grade 2 are Confirmed and receive the Eucharist in May. Their preparation begins in mid March.
Older children and adults, not yet confirmed
wil also be Confirmed in May.

Sacramental Prepartion for Adults


Marriage Preparation

Couples should contact the Parish Office at least nine months prior to any their proposed wedding day. Marriage preparation sessions are required prior to celebrating the Sacrament of Marriage. Couples should complete their Marriage Preparation Course about six months before their wedding. Our parish offers three courses a year. The courses are held over two weekends. Couples planning to marry in another parish will be prepared here and their documents will be forwarded to the parish where the wedding will take place.
